AS Roma's interest in Olympique Marseille’s forward Mason Greenwood is becoming more concrete as the Giallorossi are actually preparing an official bid that would allow them to secure the signing of the player.

This bid is expected to have multiple instalments given Roma’s budget limitations.

That said, Gian Piero Gasperini is welcoming such a transfer with open arms as he believes that Greenwood would represent a considerable addition to the team’s attacking line.

Furthermore, there are no potential complicated negotiations between Roma and the player over personal terms, as Greenwood also hopes to join a team like Roma.

The only aspect that might be problematic in this deal would be the negotiations between the two teams over the transfer fee and its conditions/instalments.

It should also be known that Roma cannot make such transfers without studying every possible angle of it and determining whether it would be worth it to invest money in it at the expense of other squad requirements.

That’s why, Roma are expected to remain patient while assessing the feasibility of a move for Greenwood while also checking the market to spot any potential opportunity that would help them spend less money on a reliable attacking player.

European Ambition Keeps Greenwood Ahead of Turkey and Saudi Arabia

For Greenwood, the offers are becoming too tempting for the English player, as both Fenerbahce and Al-Hilal have shown concrete interest in winning the player’s services.

Fenerbahce proposed a transfer fee reaching €35 million and an annual contract salary of €12 million, in addition to an extensive bonus system linked to goals, assists, qualification for the Champions League, and winning trophies.

On the other hand, Al-Hilal are also very interested in signing the player, with an offer that is higher than Greenwood’s market value and salary demands.

This means that both teams are very serious in their ambitions to attract the player to their projects and make him want to join the Turkish or the Saudi Pro League.

However, the most recent news confirm that Greenwood is not very interested in leaving Europe for now, as he believes that he still has something to offer at the highest level.

That’s why, he is preferring a move to a European team that plays the UEFA Champions League.

And with Roma returning to UEFA Champions League football next season, this sounds like a very attractive adventure for Greenwood, as he knows that he will be joining one of the top Italian clubs and one of the most promising footballing projects at the moment.

What Could Decide Greenwood's Next Move?

Greenwood is therefore open to joining Roma. But, he needs to wait for both clubs to reach an agreement first, before he can discuss personal terms in detail.

This situation can last longer than expected if Roma keep preparing a bid and monitoring the possibilities for so long, while Olympique Marseille can also contribute to making the deal complicated if they refuse Roma’s initial bids.

Although Olympique Marseille have the right to refuse bids that they consider not reflecting the player’s value, such refusals would eventually push a financially-fragile team like Roma away from concluding this potential deal.

Greenwood should therefore wait intelligently and monitor the situation well, with the objective of moving to his desired team or explore other competitive European options if a move to Roma does not materialise.
