The Premier League’s brightest young talents have been recognised after a standout academy season, with a new wave of emerging stars across England’s top clubs highlighting the strength of the next generation.
Max Dowman - Arsenal
Max Dowman has been named Premier League Home Grown Debutant of the Season after an extraordinary breakthrough year that saw the teenager rapidly become part of senior football at Arsenal.
The midfielder was introduced into the Gunner's first-team plans at just 15 years old, making his Premier League debut in August against Leeds United. The moment immediately drew national attention after a composed performance that included winning a penalty.
As the season progressed, Dowman continued to rewrite record books. He became Arsenal’s youngest-ever starter in a senior match before setting a new Premier League milestone with a late goal against Everton in March, becoming the youngest goalscorer in competition history.
Rio Ngumoha - Liverpool
Rio Ngumoha shared the Home Grown Debutant of the Season award alongside Dowman after an impressive breakthrough campaign at Liverpool.
The 17-year-old was recognised at the Premier League Youth Development Conference following a season that also saw him named among the league’s Scholars of the Year.
His development has marked him out as one of Liverpool’s most promising academy products, with consistent performances at youth level earning him growing attention within the club’s long-term plans.
Nico O’Reilly - Manchester City
Nico O'Reilly was named Premier League Academy Graduate of the Season after a breakout year in senior football with Manchester City.
The young midfielder has firmly established himself in Pep Guardiola’s first-team setup, making 33 Premier League appearances and contributing five goals and three assists in a hugely influential campaign.
O’Reilly also featured in 12 of City’s 13-game unbeaten run since January, playing a key role in a side that registered 15 clean sheets during that period, including a standout brace against Newcastle. His rise has already been rewarded at international level, earning a senior England debut in what has become a defining first full season in professional football.
JJ Gabriel - Manchester United
JJ Gabriel has been named Premier League Under-18s Player of the Season after a sensational campaign in which he scored 21 goals and established himself as one of the standout talents in academy football at Manchester United.
The 15-year-old forward consistently performed beyond his age group, producing a season that marked him out as one of the most exciting young prospects in the country.
Gabriel also highlighted the importance of the environment around him at Carrington, crediting the support system within the club for helping him stay focused during his rapid rise through the youth ranks.
Reflecting on the award, he said: “I'm delighted to win this award. I thank my coaches and team-mates for helping me win this amazing award. Since we came together as the Under-18s, we've become a very good team. Everyone looks out for each other and we all work hard for each other. I think we've had a very good season.”
Across the season, Gabriel finished with 26 goals and 4 assists in 28 appearances, underlining his consistency and attacking threat throughout the campaign.
Shumaira Mheuka - Chelsea
Shumaira Mheuka was named Premier League 2 Player of the Season after captaining Chelsea F.C. through a dominant campaign that ended with the PL2 title and a remarkable 14 wins from 20 league matches.
The 18-year-old led by example throughout the season, becoming a key figure in Chelsea’s title-winning side with his performances and leadership qualities standing out across the campaign.
Mheuka expressed his pride after receiving the award, saying: “It has been a great season for me and I’m very proud to receive this award. I’ve worked hard throughout the year and I’m grateful to my family, the staff and my team-mates for all of their support.”
He added further insight into the squad’s unity, stating: “Since we came together as the Under-21s, we've become a very good team. Everyone looks out for each other and we all work hard for each other. I think we've had a very good season.”
