Barcelona have joined Liverpool in the race to sign highly-rated Bundesliga defender Finn Jeltsch following his fine performances at Stuttgart.

According to SPORT, the Blaugrana are the latest club to show interest in the 20-year-old centre-back after Liverpool, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

Jeltsch joined Stuttgart on a five-year deal from German second division club Nuremberg in February 2025 and he has become a shining star in the Reds’ defence.

He is currently among the final 25 shortlist for the 2026 Golden Boy and he was handed his maiden Germany call-up in September by Jurgen Klopp but yet to make his debut.

HANSI FLICK IMPRESSED BY JELTSCH

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is reportedly attracted to Jeltsch and he has sanctioned the club’s interest for the German youngster.

However, Stuttgart have reportedly placed a price tag of about €50 million on the 20-year-old and they are not in a rush to lose one of their prized assets.

Jeltsch has played in all of Stuttgart’s matches this season which include six Bundesliga appearances and two UEFA Champions League matches.

Barcelona consider Jeltsch as a quality option to their youthful backline that includes 19-year-old Pau Cubarsi while Liverpool are looking for a long-term defensive option after losing Ibrahima Konate in the summer and with Virgil van Dijk in his mid 30s.

WHAT MAKES FINN JELTSCH SPECIAL

Jeltsch’s ability to combine physicality with pace and ball-holding skills in the heart of defence makes him a special modern defender.

He has shown the experience of a player older than his age since he joined Stuttgart over a year ago and he has proven that he can contribute to a team’s attacking play with his contribution of an assist in the Bundesliga this season.

In addition to his young age and versatility to play in either a three-man or four-man defence, Jeltsch has become a target for European heavyweights as a result of his experience against elite European clubs in the UEFA Champions League.

The German youngster is expected to play a role when Stuttgart host Atletico Madrid at the MHPArena on Tuesday night.
