Opta’s supercomputer has released win, draw and loss probabilities for all 18 Matchday 1 fixtures in the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League, based on 10,000 simulations of each match.
The projections highlight the most one-sided games, the closest contests and the teams expected to make the strongest starts to the league phase.
Which Matches Are Most One-Sided On Matchday 1?
PSG have the highest win probability of any team on Matchday 1, with Opta giving them an 83.6% chance of beating Slovan Bratislava at home. Slovan are appearing in the Champions League league phase for only the second time.
They lost all eight of their matches in their previous campaign in 2024-25.
Bayern Munich are next, with a 78.9% chance of beating Bodø/Glimt at home. Bayern scored 43 goals in last season’s Champions League, the third-highest tally in a single campaign, behind Barcelona and PSG.
Manchester United are also heavily favoured, with a 78.0% win probability against Sabah at Old Trafford. Stuttgart have a 73.3% chance of beating Viking, while Feyenoord have just a 7.3% chance of winning away to Barcelona.
Club Brugge vs Aston Villa is among the tightest fixtures, with Villa given a 38.9% chance of winning and Brugge 35.5%.
Slavia Prague are also narrow favourites against Lens, with a 37.4% win probability. Lille have the edge over Real Betis, with the French side given a 43.7% chance of victory compared with 30.3% for Betis.
Roma are the only team Opta predicts to win away from home on Thursday, with a 43.0% chance of beating Fenerbahçe. An away win was also the most frequent outcome in the supercomputer’s 10,000 simulations.
Champions League 2026-27 Title Odds: How Arsenal, Bayern And PSG Fit Into Matchday 1
Arsenal are Opta’s favourites to win the 2026-27 Champions League, with a 20.9% chance of lifting the trophy. Bayern Munich are close behind at 19.4%, while Manchester City are the only other team given more than a 10% chance, at 12.3%.

These season-long projections provide context for Matchday 1, with Arsenal given a 52.3% chance of beating Napoli in the latest Opta pre-match simulation.
A win would be consistent with the model’s forecast, while a defeat would represent a result outside the expected outcome. Liverpool, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Inter Milan and Aston Villa all feature in Opta’s top 10 title contenders.
Each club is given a single-digit chance of winning the Champions League. Their Matchday 1 opponents are Atlético Madrid, Inter Milan, Sabah and Club Brugge, with Liverpool, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Aston Villa all facing teams ranked below them in the title projections.
The supercomputer also considers recent form and historical results. Arsenal were the only team to win all eight league-phase matches last season and did not lose in normal time throughout the campaign.
Real Madrid have won all four of their Champions League meetings with Inter this century, with Inter yet to beat Madrid in that period. Opta gives Madrid a 56.0% chance of winning their opening fixture, compared with 22.3% for Inter.
