Chelsea have today agreed a stunning £117m deal with Aston Villa to hijack Morgan Rogers from Arsenal.
As I reported a few weeks ago, Chelsea never gave up on Rogers behind the scenes. The preference of the player had thought to be leaning towards Arsenal in recent weeks, but Chelsea were always watching in the background and never recieved a flat out no from the player.
It is understood that Xabi Alonso outlined his project personally to the player, something which Mikel Arteta also did, however the fast nature of talks and the relationship between Chelsea and Villa helped settle a deal.
Rogers will link up with his best friend Cole Palmer and is set for a medical on Monday.
