Chelsea have set a deadline of Friday 5pm UK time for interested clubs to come in with a £120m bid and sign Enzo Fernandez.
After months of speculation, Chelsea want to avoid last seasons distractions and form a settled squad. There is no appetite currently within the club to let the Enzo Fernandez saga go beyond the deadline.
Manchester City are seen as the club that are the most likely suitor, with talks ongoing between the representatives of Fernandez and the Mancunians.
Chelsea are now applying pressure on the Citezens to essentially put up or shut up. Interested clubs, including City, have had 60 days prior to act on the Chelsea midfielder.
Fernandez has reported back to training this week, after meeting with the club over his future on Monday.
It is understood that both City and Enzo have been informed of the new stance, and that he will be staying should the offer not arrive in time.
Finally, there is no negotiation to be had over payment terms. Chelsea have already informed interested parties on what the structure of the deal will look like.
