Atalanta midfielder Ederson has downplayed his fitness concerns after reportedly failing his summer transfer to Manchester United.
Ederson was close to moving to Old Trafford before the summer transfer window closed with Atalanta reaching an agreement with the Premier League club.
However, Manchester United were reportedly put off by his condition after undergoing a medical given his history with knee injuries.
The Red Devils tried to bring in Ederson to strengthen their midfield as a replacement for fellow Brazilian Casemiro who left Manchester at the end of last season.
EDERSON OPENS UP ON FAILED MANCHESTER UNITED MOVE
Several reports claimed the transfer to Manchester United collapsed due to medical reasons and Ederson has now revealed that he is in fine physical shape.
The 27-year-old was a member of the Brazil squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup where he played two games before their Round of 16 exit.
"I’m very well, as I’ve always been, actually," Ederson told Trivela, per Sport Witness.
"Physically, I can’t complain. I’ve always been very blessed in that regard, I’ve always been well.
"The injuries that affected my call-ups were minor. They kept me out for a few days, and I was just unlucky that they happened very close to the call-ups.
"That’s why I always came back very quickly. I’ve never had any kind of injury that kept me out for a long time."
EDERSON'S FORM AT ATALANTA
Ederson has established himself at Atalanta since he arrived in Italy in 2022 and he has played at least 30 games in each of the last three Serie A seasons.
He is recognised for his work rate, ball-winning skills and aggressiveness in the middle of the park.
Ederson has featured in Atalanta's first three games of the season, and he opened his goal account with the opener in their 2-1 loss to AS Roma on Saturday.
With the summer transfer chapter now closed, he is focused on helping Atalanta in the Serie A and UEFA Champions League this season.
"I always spoke a lot with the club, I have an excellent relationship here," Ederson added.
"Whenever this happened, with enquiries and offers, I asked what Atalanta’s intention was, what the project was, whether they were thinking of selling me, and they never thought about selling me.
"I am very close to the club and I’m also very grateful to Atalanta, because these have been the best years of my career so far."
