Anderson also made two interceptions, matching City's highest individual total. He won seven duels and six possessions, adding a defensive contribution to his work on the ball. Coventry manager Frank Lampard praised Anderson after the match.
"I've admired him from afar," Lampard said. "This is the first time I've seen him in the flesh. He's very talented, very smart. I think he's going to be a very good midfielder for City."
