Nico Paz looks set to return to Real Madrid after the club officially informed Como they will activate the €9 million buy-back clause in his contract. However, the Serie A side now have until Monday to re-sign the midfielder permanently for £51 million (€60m/$69m) before Madrid decide his next move.

The 21-year-old has been a shining star for Cesc Fabregas' Italian club ever since he joined, contributing 34 goal involvements in 75 games as a central midfielder.

Los Blancos are aiming to schedule a meeting with the Serie A club so the clause can be triggered and Paz can make his return.

The Argentinian only played eight matches for Madrid in the 2023-24 season before his departure.

Why Nico Paz Has Earned His Real Madrid Return

It's fair to say that Paz has been one of the most impactful players in Como's first two seasons in the top-flight after promotion from Serie B.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife-born player would have only been 19-years-old when joining Fabregas' side, determined to prove he could be a big difference maker.

Paz has helped Como remain in Serie A, finishing mid-table in his first season, before hugely aiding their success by gaining Champions League football last season, finishing above historical greats Milan and Juventus.

The young playmaker has been such a good performer, he was selected in Argentina's 26-man World Cup squad, earning 10 minutes in their first group game against Algeria.

What Madrid's Plan Means for Nico Paz

With such incredible talent, the Bernanbeu officials are not wasting the opportunity to bring him back, or earn more money.

While Los Blancos are heavily interested in Paz, it doesn't seem to be the case that the Argentinian is in the first-team plans of the Spanish titans.

After activating the €9 million buy-back clause, Real Madrid have given Como until Monday to make Nico Paz's return permanent for €60 million.

If Como decide against matching that figure, Madrid will bring Paz back before listening to offers worth more than €60 million from interested clubs, with Inter and several Premier League sides monitoring the situation.

What Young Players Can Learn From Nico Paz's Journey

Paz spent six years of his youth career at Real Madrid, developing himself into the player he is today.
