Oliver Glasner Set to Replace Vitor Pereira at Nottingham Forest

Former Crystal Palace and Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner is set to become the new manager of Nottingham Forest.

Glasner was in charge of Premier League rivals Crystal Palace last term. Despite having public fallings-out with the board and voicing his discontent with getting minimal backing, Glasner helped inspire The Eagles to a maiden European title (the Conference League).

The 51-year-old will replace Vitor Perriera, the man who did the impossible, it seemed, and helped The Pine Trees survive at one stage, when relegation looked certain.

On top of that, the former Porto and Wolves manager, who worked with Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis at Olympiakos, helped Forest get to the semi-finals of the Europa League, where they lost to eventual winners Aston Villa.

Why Nottingham Forest Decided to Sack Vitor Pereira

Despite a respectable season, after coming into the club mid-season and fixing the damage left by Ange Postecoglou's sacking and Sean Dyche's too, former Wolves boss can feel hard done by.

Reportedly, Perriera was shocked by the decision when he was told he was about to lose his job, as he hadn't been given any indication that his job was on the line.

What Glasner Brings to Nottingham Forest

The imminent appointment will mean Nottingham Forest will look for another manager to help them reach the levels of former manager Nuno Espirito Santo. Former Wolves boss was given more than a season (but not by much).

It feels like no other manager has been given more than six weeks to help Forest stabilise. Figuratively speaking, of course. New manager Glasner comes with a lot of pedigree. The Austrian boss, who was linked with the Chelsea and Manchester United jobs, is a manager of real pedigree.

The 51-year-old, in his two seasons in South London, helped them win their first trophy in history by winning the FA Cup two seasons ago. Last season, his Palace side went one better and won a European trophy (the Conference League).

Glasner is expected to receive significant backing in the transfer market, with Evangelos Marinakis rarely hesitant to invest in strengthening his squad.

Expectations, however, will be equally high. Having delivered success with Eintracht Frankfurt and Crystal Palace, the Austrian now faces the challenge of restoring Nottingham Forest to the upper reaches of the Premier League while guiding the club deeper into European competition.
