Chelsea Women have continued to strengthen their pool of emerging talent, with a highly rated young forward taking a significant step in her football career.
The attacker has already made a name for herself on the international stage, earning individual recognition at a major European tournament and establishing herself as one of the most prolific players in its history.
With experience in the academies of two of English football’s biggest clubs, the teenager now has an opportunity to continue her development in west London as she begins the next chapter of her career.
Chelsea Women sign Rachael Adedini to first professional contract
Chelsea have confirmed that French youth international Rachael Adedini has signed her first professional contract with the club.
The 17-year-old forward can operate as a central striker or in wider attacking positions, offering versatility as she continues her progression in the game.
Adedini has represented France at Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level. She has made 24 appearances for the Under-17 side and has featured twice for the Under-19s, according to Chelsea’s announcement.
Her achievements at the UEFA Women’s Under-17 European Championship have been particularly impressive. Having competed in three consecutive editions since the 2023-24 campaign, she has scored nine goals in total, equalling Germany’s Shekiera Martinez as the competition’s all-time leading scorer.
Adedini also claimed the Golden Boot at the 2026 tournament after helping France reach the final, where they were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Germany. She scored in a 5-0 group-stage victory over Poland before adding a brace in a 4-1 win against Finland.
Her performances earned her a place in the Team of the Tournament, further underlining her potential.
Adedini begins new chapter after Manchester academy spells
Adedini’s move to Chelsea follows a development journey that has taken her through the academies of Manchester United and Manchester City.
Born in Le Havre, France, she began playing in her home country before joining Manchester United’s academy in 2022. She moved to Manchester City two years later and progressed within the club’s youth setup.
The forward’s experience in English academy football, combined with her international achievements, provides a strong foundation as she begins her professional career.
Speaking after signing, Adedini expressed her excitement at joining Chelsea and explained the personal significance of the move.
"I’m very happy to be here. I’m excited, and I’m grateful to be here," she told the club’s website.
She also revealed that her family’s connection to Chelsea made the occasion especially meaningful.
"I’m thankful to God, and the reason behind this is because my brother’s a big fan, and we’ve always loved Chelsea, so playing here today is a massive pride for me and my family."
Chelsea have welcomed the young forward to the club and said they look forward to watching her progress.
With a strong record at youth international level and experience within elite academy environments, Adedini will now look to build on her achievements as she takes her first steps into professional football.
