Napoli striker Rasmus Hojlund has summed up his spell at Manchester United as a dream come true despite struggling in his second season. 

Hojlund spent two seasons at Old Trafford before returning to Serie A to join Napoli on an initial loan, which was later made permanent. 

The Danish striker endured a lengthy goal drought during the 2024-25 season, lasting 21 games from December 2024 to March 2025.  

Hojlund has found his form in the Italian top flight with Napoli, contributing 12 goals and five assists in 33 matches last season.

Hojlund Narrates Man Utd Ordeal

The 23-year-old left Manchester United permanently in June after Napoli met the conditions in the loan deal, which included qualifying for the UEFA Champions League. 

Hojlund joined the Red Devils in 2023, narrated his two seasons at the club and how difficult it was for him to adapt to Reuben Amorim’s style of play. 

Hojlund told La Gazette dello Sport;

"I don’t think anything specific went wrong. I arrived at a club with a manager: it was a difficult year, with many injuries, but we won the FA Cup and I was the top scorer. 

"Then we went through a difficult period and Amorim arrived, an excellent coach but with a different playing style. The team had to adapt, and it was complicated. We all struggled. 

"My first year was a success, the second wasn’t. But I played in the Europa League final; if we had won, it would have been a different story. 

"That’s football: sometimes it goes well, other times it goes badly, but I’m very happy to have played for the club I dreamed of as a child."

Hojlund scored 10 goals in 30 Premier League games during his debut season at Manchester United and then recorded four goals in 32 top-flight matches in his second season.

HOJLUND MAKES A WISH FOR RONALDO’S MENTALITY

The 23-year-old striker does not hide his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo as his favourite player.  His idol spent two spells at Old Trafford, where he is adored as a club hero.

When asked about what he would like to take from the Al Nassr star, Hojlund said:

"His abs. For me, Cristiano is all about mentality.  He’s had a fantastic career, he has so much talent, otherwise he wouldn’t have scored all those goals. But I think now, at 41, he continues to score goals as easily as changing clothes. 

"He could have said enough is enough, he’s won five Ballons d’Or, but he wants to keep improving. That’s the mentality of champions."
