Championship club Swansea City are reportedly close to completing a deal to sign Manchester City youngster Jeremy Monga on a season-long loan.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Swans have reached a verbal agreement with City to provide an environment that will aide Monga’s development.

The talented English winger moved to Manchester from Leicester City this summer, but he is now set for a return to the Championship.

The loan deal is reported to be without a buy-back clause, with Monga expected back at the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season.

JEREMY MONGA RETURNS TO FAMILIAR TO LEAGUE

Monga currently holds the record for the youngest goalscorer in the Championship after finding the back of the net in Leicester City’s loss to Preston North End in August 2025.

The 17-year-old made 27 Championship appearances last term, but his contribution of a goal and two assists were not enough to keep Leicester City’s status in the English second division.

He is also the second youngest player to play in the Premier League after Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri.

SWANSEA’S SUMMER TRANSFER DEALS

Swansea City are believed to have moved for Monga as a potential replacement for Leo Walta who is set to join Major League Soccer club, Los Angeles for an initial loan.

The Swans have been active in this summer transfer window with a few additions that include Elijah Just, Moussa Yeo and Joseph Opoku.

They have started the 2026-27 campaign on a high note with an unbeaten record after three matches.

Swansea City are currently third in the Championship table and they are on course to better their 11th-place finish from last season.

WHAT YOUNG FOOTBALLERS CAN LEARN FROM JEREMY MONGA’S JOURNEY

With the move to Swansea nearing its conclusion, Monga’s developmental trajectory could be a major lesson for young footballers.

The 17-year-old has welcomed first-team football in a lower division to help his progression rather than to limit himself in a congested top club with world-class talents like Manchester City.

Monga might not be the first-choice right winger in Vitor Matos’ Swansea squad but the Englishman can be assured of first-team opportunities in a highly competitive league like the Championship.
