Canadian MLS outfit Vancouver Whitecaps have concluded a vital piece of business, as veteran forward Thomas Muller has signed a contract extension until the summer of 2027.

The ambitious MLS franchise have managed to secure elite veteran leadership and quality as they look to continue to compete for major honours.

Muller has committed his immediate future to the club, further establishing his role as an important figure on and off the pitch.

He revealed his excitement at signing a new contract with the club, having joined them in the summer of 2025 on a short-term deal, which included a Designated Player option for 2026.

What Thomas Muller Said After Signing His Vancouver Contract Extension

Vancouver Whitecaps forward Thomas Muller has signed a contract extension, keeping him in British Columbia until next summer.

Since making his move to North America, Muller's renowned football intelligence, off-ball movement, and infectious personality have made him an important attacking and creative figure for the Whitecaps.

His thoughts on the club were evident from his words after he signed his contract, as he revealed his satisfaction with life in Vancouver, touching on how the club's tactics suit his style.

"I've really enjoyed my time here from the beginning. Vancouver has been very open and welcoming to me, and I've felt that same spirit throughout the club.

"We have an offensive, possession-based style that is fun to play and fun to watch, and you can really feel the excitement around the team and the city right now. The fans are enjoying it, and I think everyone wants to be part of what we are building.

"For me, it's still so much fun to be out on the pitch every week, and I feel good physically. I'm very happy to continue this journey with the 'Caps, and I'm looking forward to what we can achieve together this year and next year in the Sprint Season," he said via club's official website.

The extension also gives Vancouver the opportunity to retain one of football's most decorated players as they pursue further success.

How Thomas Muller Has Transformed Vancouver Whitecaps

Former Germany international Thomas Muller joined Bayern Munich's youth setup as a 10-year-old in 2000 and left the club as a free agent in 2025 after 25 years.

The 37-year-old had several options before choosing to continue his career in British Columbia with the Whitecaps.

His impact was immediate, as he helped his new club to win the Canadian Championship before facing Lionel Messi and Inter Miami in the 2025 MLS Cup final, which Vancouver lost.

He scored nine goals and provided four assists in only 13 appearances across all competitions in his first half-season with the Whitecaps.

This season, he has scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 32 appearances across all competitions as the Whitecaps occupy top spot in the MLS Western Conference.

The club is competing for another playoff run this season, adding significance to Muller's continued presence.

It provides the club with continuity as they navigate domestic league competition and continental commitments.

MLS will hold its 2027 Sprint Season before switching to a summer-to-spring calendar, with each club playing 14 regular-season matches from February to April before the playoffs conclude in May.

Thomas Muller will remain with the Whitecaps through the Sprint Season, after which his future will be decided.
