Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has added a further addition to his backroom staff, with the appointment of tactical analyst Miguel Munoz.

Munoz holds a UEFA Pro License and is highly regarded for his preperation and analysis on opposition teams. While finer details on his role at Chelsea are yet to be revealed, it is thought that he has also helped with training preperation in the past.

He has a wealth of experience, spanning across multiple clubs and countries :

Gimnàstic de Tarragona – Assistant coach (2015–2018), working under several managers.

Valencia CF – Chief analyst under Marcelino (2018–2019), helping with tactical analysis and match preparation.

Watford FC – Assistant coach to Xisco Muñoz during the club's Premier League period (2020–2021).

SD Huesca – Assistant coach (2021–2022).

Sheffield Wednesday F.C. – Assistant coach to Xisco Muñoz in 2023.

Villarreal CF – Assistant manager since 2024, reunited with Marcelino.

While there is no public evidence of any previous formal working connection with Alonso's staff, it is said that coaches and analysts regurlarly meet during wider meetings and events, so it is possible that there is already a pre-existing connection as proffesionals. Of course, Munoz is also Spanish.

Alongside Alonso's current backroom staff, Callum McFarlane, Bernardo Cueva and Ben Roberts have stayed on and are working in different capacities.
