Newcastle United are set to complete a stunning swoop for Ivorian youngster Bazoumana Toure.

The Magpies are set for an important summer rebuild after a disappointing 2025-26 season that saw them finish in 12th place in the Premier League.

Newcastle Reach Agreement for Bazoumana Toure

Newcastle United have moved quickly to make 20-year-old Bazoumana Toure their second summer signing for a fee of around €50 million, according to a report from journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Premier League side reached an agreement with Hoffenheim that will see the young winger travel to Tyneside to complete his transfer imminently.

Toure was with the Cote d'Ivoire national team squad that played in the FIFA World Cup and was eliminated by Norway in the Round of 32.

The youngster made one start and two substitute appearances for the Elephants in his first taste of World Cup action.

Newcastle accelerated their move for him after it was confirmed that his World Cup journey has ended, allowing him to focus on a transfer.

Why Newcastle Chose Toure to Replace Anthony Gordon

The Magpies were always going to need a top-level wide addition this summer after they sanctioned the big-money sale of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona.

Eddie Howe's side targeted another rapid, direct dribbler to replace the Englishman and sought a move for Victor Munoz, who was then snatched away by Liverpool.

Their search for a replacement led them to Toure, who fits into the mould of a winger wanted by Howe to replace Gordon.

The Cote d'Ivoire international has blistering pace and excellent ball control, which ensures that he keeps the ball moving without compromising on his speed.

He is predominantly left-footed but is comfortable using his right foot, as well, enabling him to play on either flank. His explosiveness allows him to get away from opponents, a characteristic well suited to Eddie Howe's style of play.

Toure scored five goals and provided nine assists in 32 appearances for Hoffenheim in the 2025-26 season, his first full season in the Bundesliga.

Newcastle's Youth-Focused Rebuild Takes Shape

Newcastle look like they are signing players with high long-term potentials this summer, with the addition of Toure.

They previously signed highly-rated France U-21 international Ewen Jaouen to serve as their back-up goalkeeper, with a view to becoming their number one.

The Magpies have banked around £150 million from the sales of Gordon and Sandro Tonali, and have reinvested wisely in two young talents.

They will look to add some more quality to their squad before the end of the summer in order to keep them competitive in the Premier League.
