It's official. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has completed a season-long loan move to Aston Villa from West Ham United, with a conditional obligation to buy clause included in the deal.

The exact fee has not been confirmed, although BBC Sport has reported that West Ham had been seeking around £25 million from interested clubs before agreeing the loan move.

The DR Congo international will remain in the Premier League and could also feature in the Champions League with Villa.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka Leaves West Ham for Aston Villa

Wan-Bissaka heads to Birmingham after two seasons with West Ham, having signed a seven-year contract when he joined the club in 2024., having moved from Manchester United after five seasons there.

With United, he made 190 appearances across all competitions and won the 2023 EFL Cup and 2024 FA Cup before moving to London to join up with West Ham.

For West Ham, he made a total of 65 appearances across all competitions, including 25 last season as West Ham were relegated to the Championship. West Ham's relegation, however, reflected wider problems across the squad rather than issues involving Wan-Bissaka alone.

How Aaron Wan-Bissaka Could Fit Into Aston Villa's Squad

As he prepares for the 2026-27 season with Villa, the DR Congo international could compete for a regular place under Unai Emery, especially since a defensive space opened up with Ezri Konsa's move to Arsenal.

He will face competition from Matty Cash for minutes at right-back. However, Villa's involvement in the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and EFL Cup could create regular opportunities for Emery to rotate his squad.

Wan-Bissaka could also provide cover at left-back if required, although Villa strengthened that position earlier in the summer by signing Matteo Ruggeri from Atletico Madrid.

Wan-Bissaka Excited by Aston Villa's Ambition

Speaking to VillaTV after completing his move, Wan-Bissaka spoke positively about Villa's ambition and the direction Emery has taken the club.

"I'm excited and I'm happy to be part of this great club. The ambition and obviously the opportunity to play at this level attracted me. You know the direction the club is going in.

"Unai Emery's aim for the season - and what he has done over the past few years for the club - is motivating. Every game will be a challenge, but I'm looking forward to it. My aim is just to have a successful season and also add trophies to that as well.

"To the fans, please just support us as usual and we will give it our all," Wan-Bissaka said.
