Bournemouth are reportedly open to selling Alex Scott in the January transfer window if they receive a substantial offer and their Premier League position allows them to consider an exit.

The development marks a significant change for the England midfielder, who had been expected to remain at Vitality Stadium until the summer after Bournemouth previously ruled out a mid-season departure.

According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool and Chelsea remain interested in the 23-year-old, although neither club has made a fresh bid ahead of the January window.

Liverpool and Chelsea Remain Interested

Chelsea had a £60 million offer for Scott rejected in the summer, with add-ons potentially taking the package to £64 million. The club had also received positive signals from his representatives about a move, but Bournemouth refused to negotiate.

Liverpool remain interested, although they have not made a formal approach or submitted an offer. Manager Andoni Iraola’s previous connection to Bournemouth could be relevant to the club’s pursuit.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham have reportedly turned to other targets, leaving Chelsea and Liverpool as the leading contenders.

Why Bournemouth Changed Their Stance

Bournemouth’s position shifted after a final round of talks with Scott’s representatives. The club is now prepared to allow the midfielder to leave in January if a substantial offer is presented, provided their Premier League position allows it.

They are unlikely to sanction his departure if it leaves them vulnerable in the relegation fight.

Scott’s future has been uncertain since he rejected two contract offers from Bournemouth at the end of last season. He was keen to leave, but the club refused to sell him during the summer.

Bournemouth signed Scott from Bristol City for a reported £25 million in August 2023. His contract runs until June 2028, leaving the club under no immediate pressure to sell. Scott’s fitness could also influence any January negotiations.

He is expected to be sidelined for at least a month after sustaining a thigh injury while playing for England in their 7-0 Nations League win over Croatia. The injury came shortly after Scott made his first senior England start.

He had previously made his international debut in a 2-0 win over Czechia.

Bournemouth’s willingness to consider offers does not guarantee a January exit. Any deal would depend on the size of the offer and the club’s position in the Premier League.
