Fulham have announced the appointment of former Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa as their new Head Coach on a three-year deal.

The Premier League side have opted for the 43-year-old to replace Marco Silva in what is essentially a three-club domino.

How Arbeloa's Appointment Completed A Three-Club Managerial Domino

Alvaro Arbeloa has signed his contract with Fulham and been announced, meaning that the trio of Real Madrid, Fulham, and Benfica have now moved coaches around between them.

Former Benfica boss Jose Mourinho was poached by the Spanish giants, replacing Arbeloa at the Bernabeu and leaving the position in Portugal open.

The Portuguese giants responded by taking Marco Silva away from Fulham, particularly because his deal with the Cottagers reached its end this summer.

Fulham have now completed the domino by appointing the man who was moved out by Madrid, Arbeloa, to lead them into the 2026-27 season on a deal until 2029.

Why Fulham Chose Arbeloa

Fulham's owners, Shahid and Tony Khan, have expressed their satisfaction with the appointment of Arbeloa for specific reasons.

They view the tactical intelligence, winning mentality, and work ethic of the Spaniard as being key to delivering an attacking style of football at Craven Cottage.

They also look to lean on his experience working in youth football with Madrid's academy teams to engage Fulham's youngsters and provide a viable pathway to first-team football.

Arbeloa's Coaching Journey

Arbeloa began his coaching career at Los Blancos, where he made his professional bow as a player aged 21 years old.

He took charge of the U-14 team before moving up to the U-16 team and then the U-19s. His spells on the Madrid Academy were laden with trophies, and he was their choice to replace Raul as Castilla boss in the summer of 2025.

Arbeloa spent just half a season with the Castilla before the big job became open, and the club named him as the replacement for Xabi Alonso.

He lasted just half a season as Real Madrid coach before Mourinho was appointed, allowing him to return to the Premier League as a coach.

He played for Liverpool and West Ham in England before his retirement aged 34 years old.

Which Real Madrid Players Could Follow Arbeloa To Fulham?

Arbeloa is prepared to come to England with three of his former players at Madrid this summer, according to BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella.

The new Fulham boss wants to sign Franco Mastantuono on loan, as well as Fran Garcia and Gonzalo Garcia to strengthen the Cottagers' squad.

Mastantuono is highly-rated at the Bernabeu but failed to consistently show his quality in his debut season at the club, resulting in the decision to let him leave on loan.

Fran Garcia is almost certain to leave the club this summer following the signing of Marc Cucurella.

Gonzalo Garcia is another who will look to leave the Bernabeu, and with Raul Jimenez gone, the Spain U-21 international could be a shrewd signing for the Cottagers in attack.
