Real Madrid are prepared to consider offers for midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni to leave the club this summer, according to Diario AS.
The France international is at the FIFA World Cup, but his future is up in the air as he is the subject of interest from a number of European sides, particularly from the Premier League.
Why Real Madrid Are Considering Selling Aurelien Tchouameni
Real Madrid signed Aurelien Tchouameni from AS Monaco in the summer of 2022 for a fee in the region of €80 million. He replaced club icon Casemiro, who departed for Manchester United in the same window.
Tchouameni has been a loyal servant of Los Blancos, playing 195 times for the club and taking up a variety of positions on the pitch. His importance grew under Carlo Ancelotti, when he played at centre-back on a number of occasions with his team short-handed.
The Frenchman featured prominently in the 2025-26 season, appearing 55 times across all competitions for the club. Real Madrid struggled by their lofty standards, and their season descended into chaos in the final weeks of the campaign.
The midfielder had been said to be one of a handful of players that was disappointed to see Xabi Alonso sacked in January after a dressing room mutiny against him.
In the final month of the season, he got into a physical altercation with club captain Federico Valverde which left the Uruguayan midfielder with a gash on the head and needing a trip to the hospital after he fainted.
Los Blancos fined both players €500,000 each and drew a line under the incident, but it was never going to disappear that easily.
The club are prepared to back their captain and are willing to let go of Tchouameni to avoid a fractured dressing room under new manager Jose Mourinho.
The Conditions for a Summer Move: Madrid’s Stance on the Asking Price
Madrid consider Tchouameni to be one of Europe's best players in his position, and are not looking to sell him for cheap, despite their keenness to move him on.
The Spanish giants will only sell the 26-year-old on their own terms, meaning that they will not sanction a deal unless their asking price is met.
This case is different from that of fellow midfielder Dani Ceballos, whose contract was terminated by the club in their desperation to let him go this summer.
Madrid's valuation of Tchouameni has not been made public, but they will consider the transfer fees paid for top-level midfielders in recent times to set a price for his suitors.
Premier League bound? Manchester United interest genuine
Tchouameni may be lined up to join Manchester United as a replacement for the man he replaced at Madrid four years ago.
The France international is on the radar of the Red Devils, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reporting their interest in his services weeks ago.
United are in the process of rebuilding their midfield to be good enough for top-level European football after qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.
Michael Carrick's side have seen Casemiro depart and are in the market for a top quality replacement for the Brazilian. Who better for them to replace him with that the man who replaced him at the Bernabeu?
The Red Devils have already signed Brazil international Ederson and have been linked with West Ham star Mateus Fernandes, but Tchouameni is an elite option to add to their squad.
Tchouameni will likely have no problems with moving to England, particularly to sign for a club as prestigious as Manchester United.
