Premier League clubs are not slowing down with their big-money moves this summer, and Manchester City have completed another one.

The Cityzens have reached an agreement for the transfer of Morocco international Ayyoub Bouaddi from Ligue 1 outfit Lille, as per Fabrizio Romano.

They surged ahead of rivals from across Europe to reach an agreement to sign the 18-year-old on the back of a breakout FIFA World Cup campaign.

The signing of the teenage star represents a significant statement of intent for the side, having lost Rodri earlier this month.

This deal gives Maresca a generational talent to work with, who is capable of anchoring their midfield for the next decade.

Manchester City Agree Club-Record Fee for Ayyoub Bouaddi

City have agreed to pay €95 million plus a further €5 million in add-ons to sign teenage sensation Ayyoub Bouaddi.

He will put pen to paper on a five-year deal until 2031, with an option for a further year, according to David Ornstein.

Bouaddi's transfer agreement comes after Lille president Olivier Letang claimed that the youngster is happy to remain with Les Dogues.

An agreement on personal terms was already in place between Bouaddi and Manchester City since shortly after the FIFA World Cup in July.

Bouaddi's fee surpasses the €80 million received for the transfer of Nicolas Pepe to Arsenal in 2019, making him the most expensive sale in Lille history.

How Ayyoub Bouaddi Emerged as Manchester City’s Long-Term Rodri Successor

Ayyoub Bouaddi's ascent to the summit of football has been nothing short of historic and meteoric, taking just over two years.

He made his Lille debut in a UEFA Conference League game at 16 years and three days old in 2023, making him the youngest player to ever appear in a European club competition match.

He also became his club's youngest-ever player, and three weeks later, the youngest player to appear in Ligue 1 in over 40 years.

In January 2026, he became the youngest player to make 50 Ligue 1 appearances for Lille, breaking Eden Hazard's record.

Ayyoub Bouaddi's global reputation exploded this summer when he represented Morocco, the country of his parents, at the FIFA World Cup.

He became the first teenager to appear in five World Cup games for an African team, as he anchored the Atlas Lions' midfield to the last eight of the tournament.

Bouaddi's combination of press resistance, clean distribution, and tackle volume resulted in City identifying him as a worthy long-term successor to Rodri.

He will work in tandem with fellow big-money signing Elliot Anderson to fill the void left by the departure of Rodri.
