Arsenal Women’s Champions League trip to Barcelona has been moved back by 24 hours following concerns over disruption caused by a planned general strike in Spain.
The game had originally been scheduled for Wednesday, 11 November, but Barcelona raised concerns about staging the fixture on that date because of a planned general strike.
The venue remains Camp Nou, with kick-off unchanged at 6.45pm local time (5.45pm UK time).
Arsenal confirmed the rearrangement on Wednesday morning.
Why Has Barcelona vs Arsenal Women Been Rescheduled?
A general strike is planned across Spain on 11 November, with the action called by Spanish trade unions over the country’s housing crisis
Trade unions including CCOO and UGT are supporting the action, which could cause disruption to transport and the practical arrangements required to stage the Champions League fixture.
Barcelona confirmed that the fixture had been rescheduled by agreement with Arsenal because the planned strike meant the match could not be staged under the required conditions.
The disruption had also raised concerns about pre-match media commitments and Arsenal’s scheduled training session at the stadium.
Moving the fixture back by one day is intended to avoid those potential complications while allowing the match to take place at the same venue and kick-off time.
Why Was Barcelona vs Arsenal Women Not Played Earlier?
Barcelona initially explored bringing the fixture forward to Tuesday, 10 November.
However, that option presented a scheduling challenge for Arsenal.
The Gunners are due to face Liverpool away in the Women’s Super League on Sunday, 8 November. Moving the European fixture forward would have left Arsenal with a shorter turnaround between the two matches and potentially required another domestic rearrangement.
The decision to move the game back by 24 hours therefore avoids bringing the European contest closer to Arsenal’s domestic fixture.
Instead, the sides will meet on Thursday, 12 November, with the original kick-off time retained.
Arsenal Women Face Barcelona in a Key Champions League Test
The rearranged fixture will be another significant occasion in Arsenal’s European campaign, with Barcelona among the leading sides in women’s club football.
The meeting also carries recent history between the teams. Arsenal defeated Barcelona in the 2025 UEFA Women’s Champions League final in Lisbon, claiming the trophy with a 1-0 victory.
That result secured Arsenal’s second title in the competition and ended Barcelona’s hopes of retaining the trophy.
The Spanish side will now host the Gunners at Camp Nou, with the fixture providing another opportunity for two of Europe’s biggest clubs to meet on the continental stage.
For Arsenal, the change means a revised European schedule but no alteration to the match venue or kick-off time.
Arsenal Women will now face Barcelona at Camp Nou on Thursday, 12 November, with kick-off at 5.45pm UK time.
