Bernardo Silva announced a month ago that he will be leaving Manchester City at the end of this season when his contract runs out in June.
A player of Silva's calibre won't be leaving City without hearing interest from big European sides. He has been linked with the likes of Barcelona for a couple seasons and now Juventus also seem keen on his signature.
Could Barcelona Finally Move for Bernardo Silva?
Bernardo was once quoted saying "Spain and England are the best, and of course I dream one day to be there". Could that bias lead to a preference in the Catalan side?
The Catalan giants will be seeking the Portuguese internationals' services to bolster their midfield. With Gavi's injury proneness and the pure magic Bernardo creates on the pitch, another player off the Iberian peninsula wouldn't go a miss.
The Portuguese has had the most appearances for any City player under Pep Guardiola with 457 appearances . Being the most utilised player in Guardiola's team speaks volumes on Silva's abilities and there is no surprise why he is attracting this level of football clubs.
Guardiola is one of the most decorated managers of all time. I would have to write a whole new article to encompass all that Pep has won during his managerial career.
But boasting 6 Premier League trophies in your most recent job speaks for itself.
Could Guardiola put in a good word about Barcelona? He did have a great time after all. He managed arguably one of the best football teams in football history.
Bernardo is still keeping his card close to his chest however. When he spoke to The Athletic he was directly asked about Barcelona.
The midfielder said, "I don’t want to talk about names" and that he will "Speak to him [Jorge Mendes] on the 25th [of May], the day after that Aston Villa game".
Juventus Continue to Monitor Bernardo Silva Situation
Juventus have a weaker case in the signing of Bernardo Silva this season. Bernardo has not said much about the Bianconeri's interest.
According to recent Italian reports, Juventus director Damien Comolli continues to follow up talks with Bernardo Silva's agent Jorge Mendes. As Juventus are expected to be looking for a new midfielder this summer and Bernardo Silva is a excellent target for them.
The talks in progress between Juve and Mendes could be of benefit for Juventus' pursuit of the midfield maestro.
Bernardo has mentioned that he wants to resolve his club situation between the end of the season and the start of training with the National Team so he can have a clear head.
The upcoming World Cup is really important for Silva and speeding up the deals would help him clear his head before the World Cup this coming summer.
Will Bernardo Silva Eventually Return to Benfica?
The City midfielder said in an interview that “One thing is certain: I want to return one day. I don’t know if, when I want to come back, the club will still want me".
Bernardo isn't sure if the full circle dream can come true but there sure is desire to return to his boyhood club before he retires.
However right now he outright told Canal 11, "I'm not going to Benfica", "There were contacts to understand whether there was any intention”.
A fairy tale ending could still happen, but it is likely that if it were to happen it will happen later on in Bernardo Silva's already illustrious career.
