Burnley have terminated their front-of-shirt sponsorship agreement with Finotive One just days before the start of the 2026-27 Championship season.
The Clarets confirmed the decision on Friday morning after speculation surrounding the partnership emerged earlier this week.
The club had announced Finotive One as their new front-of-shirt sponsor at the beginning of July, with the company also featuring on Burnley's training wear throughout the summer.
The Finotive branding had subsequently appeared on the club's new home and away shirts during pre-season, as well as during last week's Carabao Cup victory over Notts County.
Now, however, the agreement has been brought to an end.
Burnley Confirm Finotive Sponsorship Termination
Burnley confirmed that they had acted to protect the interests of the club and its supporters.
In a statement, the club said: "Burnley Football Club is disappointed to confirm that its agreement with Finotive has been terminated.
"We have acted decisively to protect the club's interests, and those of our supporters, while ensuring preparations for the new season continue uninterrupted, both on and off the pitch."
The change comes just as Burnley prepare to begin life back in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League last season.
What Happens to Burnley Shirts Already Purchased?
The sudden change has also left supporters who have already purchased the new Burnley shirt needing to decide what to do next.
The club has confirmed three options for fans who bought a replica shirt featuring Finotive branding.
Supporters can:
- Receive a full refund
- Exchange their shirt for a replacement featuring Vertu branding
- Have Vertu branding added to their existing shirt free of charge
Burnley have also confirmed that replica shirts will temporarily be unavailable to purchase online or from the Clarets Store while the changes are made.
The suspension also affects the Clarets Store ahead of Sunday's fixture against West Ham.
Vertu Motors Steps In as Burnley’s New Shirt Sponsor
The switch to Vertu Motors comes at a particularly late stage of Burnley's preparations for the new season.
Finotive had been heavily involved in Burnley's branding throughout the summer, with the sponsor featuring prominently across the club's digital output and new kit campaigns.
A video promoting Burnley's popular new away shirt reportedly reached 6.4 million people on X alone, highlighting the scale of the club's summer promotion.
With Vertu Motors now stepping into the role, Burnley will begin their Championship campaign with a different sponsor on the front of their shirts to the one supporters saw throughout pre-season.
For fans, the club's promise of refunds, exchanges and free sponsor changes provides some clarity, although replica shirts will remain unavailable until further notice.
Burnley say further information regarding existing shirts and supporter arrangements will be communicated through their official channels.
