Chelsea were defeated by Portsmouth this afternoon at Cobham training centre, according to sources contacted by Striver.Football.
The Blues ended up losing 2-0 in a match which saw several first team stars get their first minutes on their way back from injury.
Sources described the game this afternoon as more of a ‘training match’ and are believe fitness is more important than the result.
Xabi Alonso has spent the international break reviewing tactical footage with his staff and making plans for a tricky run of games in October which begins next weekend, where they will host Bournemouth.
There is optimism internally that Chelsea will become more solid defensively once Moises Caicedo re-enters the fold.
