Chelsea have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sell Liam Delap.
Sources have told Striver.Football that Forest will pay Chelsea a guaranteed £45m, a club-record figure for them, plus add-ons that could take the overall deal to £50m.
While we reported that Delap was keen to stay and believed he could turn his fortunes in Blue around this season, Alonso and the club decided to move forward with the signing of Danny Welbeck, who is expected to be second-choice striker, limiting Delap's chances.
Emmanuel Emegha is also a recent arrival from Strasbourg and is set to stay at the club this season.
Delap suffered multiple injuries last season, but still struggled to make an impact overall, scoring just 2 goals in 41 appearances.
The sale will bring more funds into the club as they push towards raising a target of £300m+ in sales. Chelsea need to offset high spending and balance the books without European Football.
