AC Milan are planning to offer Christian Pulisic a contract extension until 2031, with owner Gerry Cardinale leading the push to keep the United States forward at San Siro.

No agreement has been announced, and Milan, Pulisic, and his representatives have not publicly commented on the report.

Christian Pulisic Contract Extension: Reported Terms and Talks

Milan reportedly offered around €5 million net per season plus bonuses, with a deal targeted before the end of December. La Gazzetta dello Sport's latest report says Pulisic’s representatives could seek more than the €5 million a season previously reported.

Whether negotiations have started is disputed. Gazzetta reported that talks with Pulisic’s representatives were underway and positive.

PianetaMilan said in early September that no talks had taken place and repeated in its latest report that Milan had not opened negotiations with Pulisic or his representatives. Pulisic’s current salary has not been reliably confirmed.

When Does Christian Pulisic's Milan Contract Expire?

Pulisic signed a four-year contract when he joined Milan from Chelsea in 2023. It expires on 30 June 2027, with the Rossoneri holding an option to extend it by one year to 2028 without renegotiating the terms.

The option gives Milan the ability to extend Pulisic's contract for another season and avoid his current deal expiring in 2027. It means Milan have the option of extending his contract for another year while continuing discussions over a longer-term deal.

Gazzetta reports that an agreement was close about 18 months ago before talks stalled. Milan have also rejected interest in Pulisic, and several approaches were turned down over the summer, including one from MLS.

Milan also wants to extend defender Strahinja Pavlovic’s contract until 2031. His current deal runs until June 2028, with a reported net salary of around €1.7 million per season. The club is also considering increasing it to between €3 million and €3.5 million.

Christian Pulisic's Return From Injury Under Ruben Amorim

Pulisic suffered a bone injury in his lower leg when the United States lost to Belgium in the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup on 6 July.

He missed all of Milan's pre-season and returned to training in mid-August under new head coach Ruben Amorim, who replaced Massimiliano Allegri. Pulisic was an unused substitute in Milan’s first three Serie A games of 2026-27.

Milan’s head coach said he was “upset” about his lack of minutes, telling reporters: “He's upset, in the moment, because he has zero minutes, and I love that.”

He added: “Pulisic is really important for us and is going to play a lot of games.”

Pulisic then came on at half-time away to Lazio and provided an assist in a 2-2 draw. He made his first league start of the season in the next game and scored in the 14th minute of a 3-0 home win over Lecce, with Pavlovic providing the assist.

It was his first goal for Milan in 2026. Last season, he scored eight league goals and provided four assists in 30 Serie A appearances, including 18 starts.

Pulisic is not with the United States squad during the current international window after opting to remain with Milan. Coach Mauricio Pochettino left him out of a 28-man squad made up largely of younger players for four friendlies, saying he had selected the best roster he could for the camp.

Yahoo Sports reported that Pulisic was not injured at the time. Gazzetta reported that Pulisic is using the international break to continue his conditioning work at Milanello.

Milan’s next league match after the international break is away at Sassuolo on 11 October.
