Former Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon head coach Ruben Amorim is a 'strong candidate' and is 'ready to accept all conditions discussed at AC Milan' as per @FabrizioRomano on X.
The Portuguese manager was sacked in January earlier this year and has remained unemployed since. With various top European sides currently without a manager, his name has remained high on the priority list of a former powerhouse.
Why Milan Have Identified Ruben Amorim As Their Top Target
After falling short of Champions League football with a last game of the season loss to Cagliari, Milan sacked Allegri after just one season.
Two consecutive awful seasons from a once powerhouse in Italian and European football has led to more then just the head coach being sacked. Much of the backroom staff have also been relieved of their services as a full rebuild has been prepped.
Former Bournemouth manager, Iraola was the first choice for the Rossoneri but after the Spaniard rejected their contract offer Milan had to look elsewhere.
With US national team manager Pochettino, former Crystal Palace manager Glasner and Al Ahli’s Jaissle all also on their target list expect confirmation in the coming weeks.
The Size Of The Rebuild Facing Milan's Next Manager
The Rossoneri have finished a combined 35 points behind city rivals Inter in the last two seasons. The squad hasn't got a strong starting XI to challenge for a Scudetto and currently managerless.
Dynamic winger Leao is also on his way out of the club, making the rebuild immensely harder for their next manager. With others likely to be sold in this summer window, a manager with a clear style of football is a requirement.
No European football and an embarrassing domestic campaign will require patience and instant improvement which Amorim has demonstrated during his Man United tenure.
A rebuild of the highest magnitude is in the immediate future for the Rossoneri, one that Amorim has had experience in despite not reaching the heights he'd have hoped for.
Why Amorim's Tactical System Could Suit Serie A
Amorim played a consistent 3-4-3 with attacking full backs and a sturdy central base through the centre backs and midfield. The Rossoneri players are used to playing with a back 3 but with a defensive mindset. Amorim can unlock a more attacking approach for the Milan players which can get the most out of Pulisic.
With 14/20 teams that were in Serie A last season playing a back 3, Amorim's approach can easily be transferred into Italian football on paper. Unfortunately, football is played on grass so only time will tell for the 41-year-old.
The Key Role Zlatan Ibrahimovic Could Play In Amorim's Appointment
With former Milan striker Ibrahimovic holding shares in RedBird, he is the only key part of the backroom staff that are vital in the performance of Milan. It has been reported that he was overlooked by Allegri and sporting director Igli Tare.
With Milan now taking on a direct rebuild, with the heavy inclusion of Ibrahimovic, it will be important for the future manager to have a strong bond with the Swede.
