Former Premier League star Emile Heskey has urged Liverpool to monitor two Manchester City players amid the club struggles with financial charges.

Heskey believes Marc Guehi and Antonio Semenyo would be good additions to Liverpool as they continue to shine in Manchester since their arrival in January 2026.

The duo’s future alongside other key players at Manchester City have become subject of transfer rumours after the club was found guilty of breaching financial fair play rules in September.

The Premier League has yet to announce any punishment for the gross breach of its financial rules but speculations continue to grow around possible points deductions or potential demotion.

HESKEY POINTS LIVERPOOL TO GUEHI & SEMENYO

Heskey, who previously played for Liverpool and Aston Villa, said Liverpool should target Guehi and Semenyo if Man City are eventually punished.

He believes City could find themselves at a level where its key players would be let go at a bargain price amid their current legal crisis.

When asked about the players Liverpool should consider at Man City, Heskey told Team Talk; “Yes, they should definitely go for them if the chance arises. You try and pick up players at the best rate you could possibly get when it happens.

“We’ve seen Leicester have to sell off the whole squad, apart from the young lads. So it happens – that’s what happens in football.”

HESKEY RAVES ABOUT GUEHI & SEMENYO

The former England striker described  Guehi as a perfect fit for Andoni Iraola’s playing style at Liverpool.

Heskey considers the English defender to be a quality addition to support Virgil van Dijk in the Reds’ defence.

“I think Marc Guehi is a very composed, strong defender,” he added. “He’s strong in one-on-ones, and he’s very composed on the ball because he’s played at that level.

“He came through at Chelsea, so playing out from the back is something he understands in the way the manager would want, and Iraola would love it.

“He’s what I would describe as a very capable centre-back, and I think he’s a fantastic player.”

Heskey who scored 110 goals in 516 Premier League games, singled out Semenyo for his eye for goal and his work rate on the flanks.

“Semenyo is a very explosive attacking player who’s got an eye for goal,” Heskey said.

“He’s exactly what the top four teams want in a wide player – not only do you create, but you’re explosive enough to go and score some goals yourself.”

Semenyo has played five Premier League matches for City this season with a contribution of two goals and three assists.
