La Roja's position at the top comes despite their latest 2-1 defeat against Croatia.
The result saw Spain lose points, but not enough to surrender first place.
Argentina remain second with 1,972.80 points after beating Benin 3-0.
France sit third on 1,958.86 following an impressive 4-1 victory over Belgium.

England's latest result has helped them strengthen their position among the world's leading international sides.
The Three Lions defeated Czechia 3-0, taking their total to 1,925.59 points.
That leaves England fourth in the world.

Sierra Leone suffered the biggest drop, falling eight places.
Cabo Verde were the biggest losers in terms of ranking points, losing 29.39 points.
