Bayern Munich drew Norwegian outfit Viking FK 3-3 in Stavanger on Tuesday night in what was well and truly one of the most shocking results in the Champions League so far this season.
The Bavarians had handedly dispatched of Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt 5-0 in their first match of the competition this season, but made hard work of what was Bayern's second straight draw across all competitions since returning from the international break.
Vincent Kompany's side had to come back from going into the halftime break 2-0 down and they did just that via a brace from Harry Kane and goal from Luis Diaz but it all became a bit unglued shortly after the Colombian's goal.
Viking FK captain Zlatko Tripic baited Michael Olise into two yellow cards to be given his marching orders in the 74th minute, which gave Viking all the momentum and lead to their 90th minute equalizer via Herman Haugen.
While it might've been a bitterly frustrating result for Kompany and Bayern, Kane can have some reason to be proud as his two goals in Stavanger saw him reach another impressive milestone.
More UCL Goals After 30 Years Old Than Messi
With Kane's brace against Viking FK, he has now scored 36 UEFA Champions League goals after turning 30 years old, which surpasses Lionel Messi's previous mark of 35 goals.
The Argentine had scored those goals from a combination of tenures at Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain whilst Kane's spans from Bayern and Tottenham.
So far this season, Kane's tallied eight goals and four assists from nine matches across all competitions and three of those goals have come in the Champions League. He's made a habit of scoring in Europe's most prestigious club competition quite religiously for Bayern.
Harry Kane Extends His Champions League Scoring Run
Kane is currently 33 years old and will turn 34 before this season ends and has now also scored in nine consecutive Champions League matches in the Champions League.
This feat has previously been achieved by Ruud van Nistelrooy, Robert Lewandowski, and Cristiano Ronaldo, who had once scored in eleven straight Champions League matches when he was with Real Madrid in 2017 and 2018.
With his brace in the 3-3 draw against Viking FK, Kane's run of matches he's scored in in the Champions League stretches back to Bayern's 2-0 win over Union Saint-Gilloise back at the end of January.
In that stretch, there's only one Bayern Champions League match he didn't score in, but he was an unused sub on the bench for that occasion, the 6-1 win over Atalanta in the round of 16 first leg in Bergamo.
Even more impressively, in between Bayern's first two Champions League matches of the season, Kane scored in all four of England's UEFA Nations League matches during the international break and is showing why he's one of the odds-on favorites to win the Ballon d'Or in a few weeks' time.
