Few Premier League players have had a better start than Morgan Rogers so far this season. The Aston Villa wonderkid has lit the world a light with ten goal involvements in seventeen games.
Like many Aston Villa players, it was a slow start for Rogers. He went seven league games without a goal, something unexpected for a man that finished last season with eight goals. He was also a devastating play maker for Villa last season, picking up ten assists.
This uncharacteristic start caused concern for Villa fans. Rogers excellently put those fears to bed. A goal over Europa League champions Tottenham in Villa's 1-2 win ended the midfielders drought.
Rogers took only three games to score again, this time a brace vs Leeds United in another 2-1 win. He did not stop there scoring another brace a few games later, in 2-3 win vs West Ham. One of these goals an absolute beauty of a goal to win the game for the Villans.
Finally it was his performance against Manchester United on Sunday that has got fans questioning is this the start of a thunderous season for the former Middlesbrough man. Two goals over the Red Devils to secure three points for Aston Villa who now find themselves in a title fight at Christmas.
Morgan Rogers like many English players this season will have one goal. Making it onto Tuchel's squad list for the World Cup. Rogers currently has twelve caps for England and will be desperate to secure his place in a tough position to get into for England. With the likes of Bellingham and Cole Palmer operating in similar roles to the Villa man. Beyond that what awaits for the Manchester City academy graduate.
He was heavily linked with a return to City in the Summer. There was also alleged interest from Chelsea and Arsenal. If Rogers continues to perform at the level he has in recent games, a regular title contender or Champions League contender must go in for him. This may force Villa into a tough spot, whether to cash out on a young star or to see just how high they can rise with him. Morgan Rogers is surely one to watch coming into the New Year.
