Paris Saint-Germain's 4-2 Champions League victory over Barcelona was overshadowed by an injury to one of their key attackers.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee and is set to undergo surgery, with the injury raising concerns over the remainder of his season.
The Georgian winger, a key part of Luis Enrique's attack, suffered a serious right-knee injury during Tuesday night's clash at the Parc des Princes.
How Khvicha Kvaratskhelia suffered his knee injury
The winger looked in serious pain just before the hour mark. Showcasing the relentless work rate that has made him an indispensable figure in the PSG starting line-up, Kvaratskhelia was tracking back deep into his own half to challenge Barcelona full-back Xavi Espart.
During the challenge, Kvaratskhelia appeared to injure his right knee as he attempted to track back, leaving him in visible pain.
Medical staff immediately rushed onto the pitch to assess the situation. Unable to put any weight on his right foot, Kvaratskhelia had to be helped off the pitch back to the dressing room.
What Kvaratskhelia's injury means for PSG
One of the main things which makes the Parisians unplayable is their forward line being so fluid and any player being able to put in a star performance on any given night.
But with the Georgian being rumoured to be out the rest of the season, they're going to need someone to replace his impact on Champions League nights.
According to L'Equipe, extensive preliminary tests have sparked genuine fears within the player's camp that the attacker has suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). French outlet MadeInFoot also reported that while an exact prognosis was initially difficult, the situation looks incredibly grim.
Who could replace Kvaratskhelia in PSG's attack?
Luckily for PSG their new signing of Ferran Torres has been scoring goals since landing from Barcelona and his adaptability could be key for important games this season. The Spaniard has made a productive start to his PSG career, with his league and European contributions providing options for Luis Enrique.
Luis Enrique has rotated his squad in league matches, but Kvaratskhelia's absence could limit his flexibility if the winger faces an extended spell out.
Tactics may have to be tweaked to get the best out of the rest of the forward players but he's not short of options to help him out.
The Georgian's work rate and final third quality will be missed against the top teams in Europe but Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue or Torres could pick up the slack on the European nights.
