Lassine Sinayoko made history on Sunday as the first player to score a hat-trick against Olympique Marseille at the Velodrome since November 2012.
Sinayoko was in red-hot form as his goals gave Paris FC a crucial 3-2 victory against their hosts in the South of France.
The 26-year-old who arrived from Auxerre in July achieved two historic feats in Marseille on Sunday as Liam Rosenior’s team extended their unbeaten start to the season to three matches.
LASSINE SINAYOKO’S RECORD AGAINST MARSEILLE
Sinayoko gave Paris FC an early lead at the Velodrome by breaking the deadlock within 30 seconds after kick-off.
The Malian striker caught Marseille’s defence unaware in the opening seconds, connecting with Luca Koleosho’s through pass to score the first goal.
The 23-second goal was the fastest goal conceded by Olympique Marseille since Opta started gathering Ligue 1 data in the 2006-07 season.
Sinayoko’s goalfest continued in the 19th minute as he restored Paris FC’s lead with a header off Pablo Pagis’ cross after Amine Gouiri equalised for the hosts.
Later in the second half, Gouiri cancelled Sinayoko’s second goal for another equaliser for Marseille and the game was heading to a draw until the 86th minute.
In the closing minutes of the encounter, English defender CJ Egan-Riley deflected Moses Simon’s shot with his hand, which resulted in a penalty for Paris FC and Sinayoko stepped up to convert and secure the match ball.
Former Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomes was the last player to score a hat-trick against Marseille in the Ligue in November 2012.
SINAYOKO’S FORM IN PARIS
Sinayoko is enjoying a great start to life in the French capital following his summer move from Auxerre.
He has scored four goals in three games so far in Ligue 1 and his attacking contributions have helped Paris FC rise to second in the Ligue 1 table.
Last season at Auxerre, Sinayoko enjoyed his best scoring form in France, scoring 12 goals in 32 matches.
