Lautaro Martinez attended the Gran Gala del Calcio, where he was asked about the links to Spanish champions Barcelona.
He confirmed that they were not just links, as he had been approached by La Blaugrana to join them this summer.
He added that his desire to continue with his teammates and fans in Milano kept him from accepting the offer to move.
"The rumours about Barcelona were true, but in the end I wanted to stay here together with my teammates and my fans.
For me, Inter is all pride, happiness, and the desire to continue. I have chosen to stay here once again, I want to do great things at Inter," he said.
Martinez appears to have closed the door on a future move to the Spotify Camp Nou with his comments, having been a target for the club for many years.
His decision to remain at the club over the last few years has been hugely beneficial to him, as he has won multiple domestic trophies in Italy.
At the Gala, he was awarded as the best attacker for the 2025-26 season and received the Capocannoniere for scoring the most goals in the league.
Why Were Barcelona Interested in Lautaro Martinez?
This summer, Barcelona were in need of significant attacking reinforcements, following the exits of Robert Lewandowski, Marcus Rashford, and Ferran Torres.
The Spanish giants had Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez as their primary target, but their rivals made it clear they were not interested in negotiating for the Argentina international.
Barcelona remained interested in the striker, who issued a public plea to join them this summer, but were forced to move on to other targets.
