It was another Premier League match without a win for Manchester United as they drew 1-1 away to Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday. Dominic Calvert-Lewin canceled out Bryan Mbeumo's 35th minute goal in the 51st minute from a corner kick routine and the result means that Michael Carrick's side remain in the bottom half of the league table in 13th place after seven matches played.
It's been one win, four draws, and two losses so far for the Red Devils in the league and they've already been knocked out of the Carabao Cup at the hands of high-flying Brighton & Hove Albion. Matters were made worse with Lisandro Martinez's post-match rant after United's Champions League loss to Atletico Madrid last week as it's all gone from bad to worse since the international break for United.
Things need to change at Old Trafford, and fast. Carrick is staring down the barrel of a tough stretch of matches that could really wind up shaping up how the rest of the season is going to unfold.
A tricky away trip to take on Como in the Champions League is next, then Bournemouth at home in the league, followed by Chelsea away in the league, Roma in the Champions League, and then Aston Villla before the next international break. Right after said break, it's Liverpool at Anfield.
Something's got to give for United, and there's a suggestion that there's a certain distraction that could be affecting the squad's focus in the midst of what's been a completely lackluster start to the season.
Man Utd Stars Distracted By Amazon Documentary
The critically acclaimed Amazon Prime All or Nothing series has been following along and filming Manchester United this season and a source told The Sun that some of the players fear the filming has caused unnecessary distractions in the dressing room.
"The players view the cameras as a pain. They not only have to meet with them every couple of weeks to do filming, they think that having them in the dressing room means the players and the managers aren’t being as open as they could be about what has been going wrong and what needs to be done to fix it," the SunSport source explained.
"Some of the players are more keen on it than others but the ones that don’t like them think punches are being pulled in the wake of games," the source continued.
All or Nothing History With Premier League Clubs
The series has focused on other Premier League clubs in the past. The series covered Manchester City for the 2017/18 season, Tottenham Hotspur for the 2019/20 season, and Arsenal for the 2021/22 season and there have been memorable moments from each series.
Pep Guardiola had a fiery halftime speech from their 2018 FA Cup loss to Wigan Athletic when Fabian Delph was sent off, Alexandre Lacazette and Cédric Soares got into a heated training scuffle in one of the Arsenal episodes, and who can forget Danny Rose confronting Jose Mourinho for a lack of minutes in the season that followed Tottenham.
Of the three previous seasons, only City triumphed in the season where the filming crew followed them along, but it does clearly seem to be affecting United, among other problems in the squad. The series is set to be released in the summer of 2027 and still has a ways to go with filming for the current season, so Carrick will need to find a way to make it work whether the cameras are rolling or not because United really need to turn their fortunes around.
