Following Barcelona's preference to sign Anthony Gordon to the frustration of INEOS and Manchester United, the red side of Manchester have contacted Premier League winners Arsenal and Chelsea for the sale of Marcus Rashford.
Manchester United are displeased with the possibility of Rashford returning to Old Trafford upon the conclusion of the World Cup in July. As such, they have directed intermediaries to gather intel on potential new homes for the once homegrown wonderkid.
Why Manchester United Are Pushing for a Rashford Sale
Following a much improved loan spell at Barcelona, if Rashford were to return to his boyhood club he would be their highest earner despite not being favoured in the team.
Rashford is now 28 years old, turning 29 in October. With the future of the club in the hands of young players with high potential, the sale of Rashford would be pure profit on a FFP standpoint and significantly reduce their wage budget as the club brace for incoming signings under Carrick.
With 12 months left of his deal in Manchester, the club have an added motivation to sell the once gem and future of Premier League football.
Why Arsenal and Chelsea Have Been Sounded Out
Both London clubs have flexed their financial muscles in recent windows, with Arsenal winning the Premier League and already focusing on becoming a dynasty. Rashford could be a great addition to their attacking vulnerability out wide.
Chelsea recently appointed Xabi Alonso as their head coach and the board could show a great intent on bringing in an experienced and impactful attacking starlet to help support Palmer in the final third.

Long term admirers Paris Saint-Germain are looking from a far but following their back to back Champions League wins, it is unlikely they will bring in Rashford.
Vincent Kompany's Bayern Munich and Barcelona rivals Athletico Madrid have also been informed on Rashford's situation with both clubs rumored to sell their attacking talent.
Several Saudi Pro League clubs have also been approached as potential financial suitors for Rashford's high wage.
Former Manchester United and England international, David Beckham has been informed to bring Rashford to Miami to partner with Lionel Messi and Co.
How important is this World Cup for Rashford?
With Rashford expected to play a key part of England's 2026 World Cup campaign, good performances from the 28 year old could entice clubs to put concrete bids in for him.
After coming off a much improved loan for the Catalan side and backed by performing on the world stage, Manchester United will be able to get a move they both desire.
Rashford Still Prefers Barcelona Move
As per media reports, Rashford's preferred destination has remained the same throughout his spell in Spain. He would ideally like to remain a Barcelona player on a permanent basis for the foresable future.
