Manchester United have ended the loan of Toby Collyer to Championship side West Bromwich Albion. The United academy graduate has made twelve appearances for the Baggies this season.
Toby Collyer was beginning to break through at the Red Devils last season making six Premier League appearances at the age of 21. A leg injury kept him off the pitch towards the end of last season, but there was a period which he looked to be a genuine contender for Amorim's regular starting eleven.
Despite this, Collyer was sent out on loan to West Bromwich Albion in the second tier of English Football.
The United youngster only managed to make three starting appearances during his stint at the club. He did come off the bench on nine occasions. He was also able to pick up one assists during his limited time on the pitch. Collyer did manage to start in one of the most important games of the season for West Brom fans. The Derby match against Birmingham City.
The former England youth player was not able to seize on the occasion. The Midfielder was forced off due to injury just ten minutes into the match.
The injury is considered to be long term enough for Manchester United to recall Collyer from the loan spell, leaving The Hawthorns sixteenth in the championship table.
Manchester United will have to assess and rehabilitate the 21 year old in the hopes he can play again this season. United face injuries in the midfield such as Bruno Fernandes and others linked away such as Kobbie Mainoo. This may force Amorim to see Collyer as another option for his team.
The midfielder's contract with Manchester United runs until summer of next year.
