Floyd Samba scored twice on his Manchester City debut as the Carabao Cup holders began their title defence with a 5-0 win over Norwich City. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder started at the Etihad Stadium and opened the scoring in the 29th minute.
He added a second nine minutes after half-time as Manchester City advanced to the fourth round. Samba’s debut came in a heavily rotated City side.
Manager Enzo Maresca made 10 changes from the team that won at Manchester United in the Premier League, with Samba leading the attack in the absence of Erling Haaland. Rayan Cherki, Allan and Ryan McAidoo also scored for City.
The result earned Maresca’s side a fourth-round home tie against Brighton, who had eliminated Manchester United.
