Manchester United have confirmed that Adam Lawrence will continue as the club’s Under-21 lead coach, with an expanded role covering the Professional Development Phase from Under-16s, Under-18s, and Under-21s groups.
He will also oversee the club’s UEFA Youth League matches during the 2026/27 campaign. Manchester United’s announcement did not disclose the length or financial terms of Lawrence’s continuing appointment.

Lawrence returned to Manchester United in January after leaving Newcastle United, with Travis Binnion having moved into the first-team coaching structure. United initially appointed Lawrence as Under-21 lead coach until the end of the 2025/26 season.
The latest decision extends Lawrence’s role beyond his initial temporary appointment. It also means the club’s Under-21 players will continue working under the coach who led the group during the latter part of the previous campaign.
Manchester United have not disclosed whether he was selected through a formal recruitment process or whether his continuation was based on specific results. United’s UEFA Youth League schedule also includes a league-phase fixture against Sabah.
Lawrence will continue preparing Manchester United’s Under-21 team while overseeing the wider Professional Development Phase.
The club has yet to announce any changes to the duties of its other academy coaches or Lawrence’s coaching staff.
