Barcelona have completed the signing of teenage sensation Victor Barbany on a permanent deal from Leganes this summer.
The Spanish giants have grabbed the 15-year-old midfielder from their fellow Spanish side on the back of an impressive development with the club.
The youngster has put pen to paper officially this week, even if the contract was already agreed upon for several months now.
Who Is Spain U15 Midfielder Victor Barbany?
Born on March 7, 2011, the teenager has had hit footballing education from the Atletico Madrid and Leganes academies, with his performances leading to interest from around Spain.
He was surrounded by his family and representatives as he signed his contract with Barcelona, marking the next step in what is expected to be an exciting career for the young man.
Barbany has appeared in five games for Spain's U-15 national team, playing against some of the best young players from around the world at his age group.
A technically gifted midfielder with impressive spatial awareness, Barbany is known for his ability to distribute the ball and his quality in possession.
How Barbany Reignited His Career at Leganes
Barbany left Leganes last summer to join Valencia's U-16 team, signing a two-year deal with his new club.
The youngster did not play a single game before returning to Leganes, as he failed to settle off the pitch.
It is not unusual to see young players prefer to be in an environment they are familiar with rather than move elsewhere, and this case is the same.
Barbany did not leave Valencia for a lack of quality, but for the homesickness he felt after leaving Leganes for the first time.
He immediately returned to being a key player for his side, helping them win the Cadet League title. A Madrid native, he also played for the Madrid Regional team as they won the U-16 national title.
Barcelona's Plans for Barbany
Barcelona intend to have Barbany join their Cadete A squad for the 2026-27 season to play with the U-16s.
He will be closely monitored by the club's staff to ascertain if he can be moved to the Juvenil B or even the Juvenil A team at the club.
Victor Barbany will take inspiration from the likes of Gavi, Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and Pau Cubarsi with respect to his first-team chances at the club.
We may see this teenage star make an appearance for La Blaugrana sooner than anyone expects.
