An England supporter who attended the gathering at The Londoner in Dallas has challenged reports of fan disorder, describing the atmosphere as positive, friendly and largely trouble-free.

England Fans World Cup 2026

For decades, England supporters abroad have often found themselves battling stereotypes.

Major tournaments have frequently been accompanied by warnings of disorder, concerns about fan behaviour and headlines predicting trouble before a ball has even been kicked.

But according to supporters experiencing the 2026 FIFA World Cup first-hand, the reality on the ground has been very different.

One England fan travelling across the United States believes this summer's tournament has showcased the best of football culture, with supporters from around the world coming together in a welcoming and celebratory atmosphere.

What Really Happened At The Dallas England Fans Gathering?

In the build-up to England's opening match, reports emerged surrounding large gatherings of England supporters at a pub in Dallas.

The venue, known as The Londoner, became a popular meeting point for travelling fans, attracting hundreds of supporters on the eve of the game.

Speaking to Striver.Football after attending the gathering in Dallas, the supporter said the atmosphere was far more positive than some reports suggested.

According to the fan who attended, the scenes were far removed from some of the narratives that later emerged.

"Everyone was in good spirits, in a good mood," he explained.

"There was no trouble. There was nothing. There was a football getting kicked around."

Rather than conflict, supporters spent the evening singing, socialising and enjoying the build-up to England's World Cup campaign.

The supporter estimated there were between 300 and 400 England fans gathered at the venue throughout the evening, with local police maintaining a presence from a distance rather than intervening directly.

Why Travelling Fans Are Praising The World Cup Atmosphere

For many travelling supporters, one of the biggest surprises has been the reception they have received from local communities.

Having lived in the United States for 15 years, the fan believes visitors have been experiencing a side of America that often gets overlooked.

"People are coming here and having the absolute time of their lives," he said.

"Meeting people from all over the world and American hospitality is world class."

He believes local residents have embraced the arrival of football supporters from across the globe.

"People are proper happy and just excited that people from other countries are here visiting."

The same sentiment, he says, has been visible throughout the tournament's host nations.

"Same with Mexico. Same with Canada."

Why The Media Narrative Doesn't Always Match Reality

While some headlines focused on concerns surrounding large gatherings of supporters, fans on the ground tell a different story.

The supporter described local police as respectful and measured in their approach, allowing celebrations to take place without unnecessary confrontation.

"The police were quite respectful really," he said.

"They stayed back. They weren't in anyone's face or anything."

He believes much of the negative coverage stemmed from assumptions rather than actual incidents.

"There was nothing. No one got kicked out."

The supporter also pointed to the contrast between local and international coverage, noting that American media outlets on the scene appeared to portray the gathering more positively than some reports emerging elsewhere.

While there may have been complaints about noise from nearby residents, he insists the atmosphere remained positive throughout.

"Everyone was merry and cheery."

How England Fans Are Rewriting Old Stereotypes

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the opening weeks of the tournament is how football continues to bring people together.

Supporters from different countries have shared bars, fan zones and stadiums, creating an environment that feels more celebratory than confrontational.

For this England fan, that has been the defining story of the tournament so far.

"It's been nothing but a success."

As the World Cup continues across the United States, Canada and Mexico, many supporters believe the focus should remain on the friendships, cultural exchanges and positive experiences that are unfolding every day.

Because sometimes the most important stories at a World Cup are not the ones making the headlines.
