Team Gilberto beat Team Lindley 11-5 in a memorable StriveAid 2026 charity match at Worthing FC's Sussex Transport Community Stadium last Saturday (October 3rd).
Andy Lindley of Baby Loss United FC filled in for World Cup winner Roberto Carlos and showcased his leadership qualities. But up against an Arsenal invincible in Gilberto Silva, his team couldn't quite handle a ruthless Team Gilberto attack.
ZaynQF bagged goals for fun including an exquisite lob which helped his side to victory. But he wasn't the only attacker who impressed on the day and fans on X have delivered their verdict on who stole the show.
Kyle Hudlin Named StriveAid 2026 Fans' Player of the Match
Striver's X account ran a poll and named four candidates worthy of being named Fans' Player of the Match. Representing Team Gilberto were Zayn and BigJohnGK, who picked up a hat-trick on the day.
On Team Lindley, imanalam_ earned a nomination for a dazzling display that held comparisons with Manchester United starlet JJ Gabriel. But it was his teammate Kyle Hudlin whom fans voted as their Player of the Match.
Hudlin won with 55.6% of the votes, pipping Zayn to top spot despite ending up on the losing team. The former AFC Wimbledon striker used his six-foot-nine-inch frame to cause all sorts of problems on the day.
Kyle Hudlin Wowed Fans at Worthing
Hudlin opened the scoring with a fine finish before adding a second later on in the game. He linked up well with Jelani throughout and showed his EFL Championship experience with a brilliant performance.
The 26-year-old spoke to DAZN at StriveAid about what his future holds:
"Yeah I'd definitely come back to the National League and it's where it all started. It's a level that you can definitely go back to and kick on again. As for what's coming, I'll leave that for my agent."
Hudlin started his career with Solihull Moors before enjoying spells at Wimbledon, Burton Albion, Newport County and even Chinese outfit Nam Dinh FC. While he may soon be back playing in English football soon, we'd love to have him back next year for StriveAid 2027.
