Arsenal are reportedly exploring a move for one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting attacking talents, with Mikel Arteta keen to add further firepower to his forward line.
The Gunners are assessing their options ahead of a potential transfer, having identified a player whose performances in Germany have attracted growing attention.
With his goalscoring and creative numbers improving significantly this season, the Norwegian international is emerging as an intriguing option for the Premier League side.
Arsenal identify Antonio Nusa as transfer target
According to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, Arsenal have expressed serious interest in signing RB Leipzig forward Antonio Nusa.
The report claims the Gunners are confident they can secure a deal for the 21-year-old, having identified him as a strong candidate to strengthen Arteta’s attack.
Arsenal have reportedly made enquiries about a potential £45 million agreement, although Leipzig are holding out for a valuation of around £58m. The north London club are said to be willing to increase their offer, but a gap remains between the two sides.
Nusa has enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign, registering 12 goal contributions in 14 appearances across all competitions, including 10 in eight Bundesliga matches.
His recent performances have been particularly eye-catching. The forward scored and provided an assist in Leipzig’s 2-0 victory over Schalke on matchweek eight, earning a man-of-the-match performance.
That followed two assists against SV Elversberg in the previous round, taking his tally to four goal contributions across his last two German league appearances.
Why Nusa could appeal to Mikel Arteta
Nusa was already regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young talents before joining Leipzig from Club Brugge in the summer of 2024.
He made history during his time in Belgium, becoming the youngest Norwegian to feature in the UEFA Champions League and the competition’s second-youngest Norwegian goalscorer, aged 17 years, four months and 27 days.
His development has continued in Germany, where he has taken on greater responsibility following Yan Diomande’s summer departure to Real Madrid.
The winger’s current form represents a significant step forward after previously struggling to reach double figures for goals or assists.
Erling Haaland has also described his fellow Norwegian as ‘extraordinary’, underlining the reputation he has built in European football.
Arsenal already have attacking options in Christos Tzolis and the versatile Noni Madueke, but neither has reportedly made the same impact as Nusa this season.
His direct running, creativity and improved output in front of goal could make him an attractive addition to Arteta’s squad.
However, Leipzig’s reported £58m valuation means Arsenal may need to increase their initial proposal if they are to turn their interest into a successful transfer.
