Barcelona may have to change their transfer plans as one target looks set to sign for their La Liga rivals.
The Spanish champions have already added to their ranks this window, with Anthony Gordon arriving from Newcastle United.
They also have a big decision to make regarding Marcus Rashford following the conclusion of his loan deal.
WHO ELSE IS UP FOR CONSIDERATION?
They also have the likes of Julian Alvarez, Marc Cucurella and Bernardo Silva on their shopping list, as they look to improve from a position of strength.
However, the hopes of landing the latter of those targets look to be fading.
According tor Catalunya Radio, the former Manchester City captain's entourage consider the Barcelona move to no longer be an option.
SILVA HAS BEEN A TARGET FOR BARCELONA FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS NOW
The Portuguese midfielder has often found himself linked to a move to the Nou Camp, but it seems a move to Atletico Madrid is a more viable option.
These revelations will come as a huge surprise to Barcelona, as they considered the deal all but done.
Deco, the sporting director, was initially against signing the 31-year-old, but he and Hansi Flick were convinced thanks in part to Silva's determination to get the deal done.
To make matters worse for the Blaugrana, it is Atletico Madrid who look like benefitting from Barce's loss.
The two clubs have already been at loggerheads thanks in part to the Catalan clubs pursuit of Julian Alvarez.
Could Silva's Decision Impact Barcelona's Julian Alvarez Pursuit?
Barcelona have seemingly made Atletico forward Julian Alvarez their number one target to replace the outgoing Robert Lewandowski.
Their behaviour regarding the Argentine forward has not impressed the Atleti bosses, who have publicly ridiculed their Barce counterparts.
Although a deal for Alvarez isn't dead in the water, it could be difficult as Diego Simeone will be desperate to keep his star forward.
If the Madrid club can add Bernardo Silva to their squad. and keep hold of Alvarez, it would be a huge blow to Flick's squad rebuild
Real Madrid And Mourinho Could Still Enter The Race
Atletico Madrid and Barcelona aren't the only clubs after the former Monaco mans signature. Real Madrid are also interested.
With Jose Mourinho all but confirmed, it seems he too would be interested in the six time Premier League winner.
Silva very much seems like a Mourinho type signing and is desperate to get his fellow Portuguese man in to help take Real back to the top.
As things stand, Atleti do have the upper hand in the pursuit of Bernardo Silva.
But things can change quickly, especially with a World Cup to contend with. Mourinho's appointment could put Los Blancos in the driving seat.
