The second weekend of the Barclays Women’s Super League season has already delivered plenty of talking points.
Chelsea made the biggest statement of the weekend with a commanding win over Manchester United, while Arsenal were held to a goalless draw by newly promoted Crystal Palace despite dominating the game.
Elsewhere, West Ham continued their perfect start, Everton claimed their first points and Birmingham City were held by Brighton after surrendering a two-goal lead.
And reigning champions Manchester City rounded off the weekend in style, cruising to a 4-1 victory over Aston Villa to maintain their perfect start.

Chelsea make a statement at Manchester United
Chelsea could hardly have asked for a better response to their opening-day draw.
After being held 1-1 by Aston Villa last weekend, the champions produced a ruthless display at Manchester United, cruising to a 5-0 victory.
Sjoeke Nüsken opened the scoring before Keira Walsh doubled Chelsea's advantage ahead of half-time.
Lauren James then added a third after the break, with Ellie Carpenter and Lucy Bronze completing the rout.
It was a performance that immediately put the rest of the division on notice.
For Manchester United and new head coach Eva Olid, however, it was a difficult afternoon and one that will provide plenty of lessons ahead of next weekend's meeting with Arsenal.
Arsenal rue missed chances as Palace hold firm
Arsenal may feel this was two points dropped.
The Gunners dominated Crystal Palace at the Emirates, registering 30 attempts and nine on target while enjoying almost 80 per cent possession.
But they could not find a way past Palace goalkeeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin.
The French international produced a string of important saves to deny Alessia Russo, Chloe Kelly and Mariona Caldentey as Palace defended resolutely to secure a goalless draw.
For Renee Slegers' side, the result will inevitably feel frustrating given their dominance.
For Palace, however, another clean sheet and another point against established BWSL opposition represents an impressive start to life in the top flight.
After beating Everton on the opening weekend, the promoted side remain unbeaten after two matches.
Manchester City cruise past Aston Villa
Manchester City made it two wins from two with a commanding 4-1 victory at Aston Villa.
Jade Rose opened the scoring in the early stages after Villa goalkeeper Akane Okuma was unable to claim a corner.
Mary Fowler then doubled City's advantage, firing a low strike into the bottom corner after being assisted by Khadija Shaw.
Villa pulled one back before half-time through Amalie Vangsgaard, giving Natalia Arroyo's side hope of a comeback.
But City restored their two-goal advantage after the break when Shaw found the net herself.
Lauren Hemp then rounded off the victory in added time, with her effort taking a deflection off Mathilde Harviken on its way in.
It means the reigning champions have begun their title defence with two wins from two, scoring seven goals in the process.
For Villa, meanwhile, it is a first defeat of the campaign after their encouraging opening-day draw with Chelsea.
West Ham bounce back against London City
The Hammers had lost 3-1 to Tottenham on the opening weekend, so Saturday's home win was exactly the response Rita Guarino would have wanted.
Kelly Gago opened the scoring before Viviane Asseyi doubled West Ham's advantage early in the second half.
London City pulled one back through Daniëlle van de Donk in the 76th minute, but West Ham held on to secure their first three points of the campaign.
For London City, it was a disappointing result after their impressive opening-day victory over Manchester United. The defeat leaves the Lionesses still searching for their second win of the season as they continue to adapt to a heavily revamped squad.
Everton claim their first points
It was an important result for the Toffees, who can now put their first three points of the season on the board.
For Charlton, the afternoon ended in another narrow defeat as they continue to adapt to life in the top flight following promotion.
Liverpool and Tottenham share the points
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur could not be separated as the two sides played out a 1-1 draw.
After both teams won on the opening weekend, neither was able to maintain a perfect record.
Tottenham had made an explosive start to the season through Kirsty Hanson's two-goal debut against West Ham, but Liverpool provided a much tougher test.
The point leaves both sides unbeaten after two games, although each will be looking for their second victory when the league returns next weekend.
Birmingham and Brighton battle to a draw
After opening their campaign with defeat to Manchester City, Birmingham showed their ability to compete against BWSL opposition by taking a point.
Brighton will perhaps feel frustrated not to have taken all three points, but the result gives both sides something to build on.
For Birmingham, it is another positive sign that they can compete at this level following promotion.
The early picture is taking shape
Two weekends into the new campaign and there are already some intriguing storylines developing.
Chelsea have responded emphatically to their opening-day draw and Arsenal have dropped their first points.
Meanwhile, Birmingham have shown they can compete back in the top flight, while Crystal Palace have already taken four points from their first two matches.
There is still a long way to go, but Matchweek 2 has offered another glimpse of just how unpredictable this expanded BWSL could be.
