Chelsea have been drawn against Liverpool at Anfield in the fourth round of the carabao Cup.

The Blues managed to fend off Leeds in the third round, bringing on four big hitters at half time on their way to win 6-3.

Meanwhile, Liverpool defeated Spurs 3-1 at Anfield on Tuesday evening.

Both sides face intense schedules in between the fixture, with Liverpool facing Brighton before the match and Arsenal after, while Chelsea will host Spurs, travel to Anfield and then host Manchester United.

Given both sides schedules, it will be interesting to see what type of lineups are selected by the end of October, where the game is scheduled to take place the week commencing the 26th.

Xabi Alonso decided to make several changes for the third round fixture against Leeds, which saw Chelsea struggle in the first 50 minutes of the match. Alonso took accountability for rotating the side too much.

Facing Liverpool will also mean an early reunion for Alonso at Anfield, where he spent several seasons as a player.

Chelsea will be hoping for solid cup runs in both the Carabao and FA Cup this season, given the fact they do not have any European competition to contend with.
