Chelsea supporters were left hugely impressed by one Blues midfielder after their side secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
While the result provided a welcome boost for Xabi Alonso's side, much of the post-match attention centred on Romeo Lavia, whose performance in the middle of the pitch earned widespread praise from supporters.
The Belgian international started alongside Moisés Caicedo and played a key role in Chelsea taking control of the contest after the break, with fans highlighting his ability to read the game, win possession and dictate play.
Chelsea fans react to Romeo Lavia's performance
Lavia was particularly influential in the build-up to Chelsea's opening goal, winning possession in midfield before releasing Morgan Rogers, who drove forward and finished confidently past Senne Lammens in the 50th minute.
His contribution did not go unnoticed, with supporters taking to social media to celebrate the midfielder's display.
One fan wrote: "May injuries spare Lavia, what a wonderful player."
Another was equally impressed, posting: "Romeo Lavia, I'm standing up and applauding."
Others went even further in their assessment of the 22-year-old, with one supporter declaring: "Best CM in the country if is fit and this is no joke."
Another highlighted his defensive contribution, writing: "What an exhibition from Romeo Lavia, by the way. Masterclass in anticipating to intercept passes and in winning 50/50 balls."
One more simply summed up their reaction: "Lavia this is special son."
The reaction reflects the excitement surrounding Lavia when he is able to enjoy a consistent run of games. His ability to break up opposition attacks while progressing possession makes him an important presence in Chelsea's midfield.
Lavia helps Chelsea take control against Manchester United
The midfielder's influence extended beyond the opening goal, as Chelsea grew into the second half and took advantage of Manchester United's defensive problems.
Rogers broke the deadlock after Lavia won possession in the centre circle and played the ball into his path, allowing the forward to drive towards goal and chip Lammens.
Chelsea doubled their advantage shortly afterwards when Lisandro Martínez was sent off for a second bookable offence after conceding a penalty. Cole Palmer stepped up to convert from the spot in the 64th minute.
Lavia was involved again in the third goal, winning possession from Bruno Fernandes before the ball reached Palmer, who supplied Estêvão to finish in the 71st minute.
The result completed an impressive second-half performance from the Blues, who had been challenged by United during the opening period.
For Lavia, however, the afternoon was another reminder of the quality he can bring to Chelsea when fit and available.
With supporters already calling for him to remain injury-free, the midfielder will hope to build on his performance and establish himself as a regular presence in Alonso's side.
