Chelsea have completed the signing of highly-rated Italy international Giulia Dragoni from Barcelona, with the 19-year-old midfielder putting pen to paper on a four-year contract.

One of Europe's brightest young talents, Dragoni arrives in the Women's Super League after an impressive loan spell with Roma and becomes the latest addition to Sonia Bompastor's squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Speaking after completing the move, Dragoni admitted joining Chelsea had exceeded everything she imagined growing up.

"I still can't believe I have signed for Chelsea!

"When I was a child, not even in my biggest dreams did I think I would sign for Chelsea. It's unbelievable. I'm really excited."

The Italian also revealed Bompastor's vision for the club played a huge role in convincing her to make the switch to England.

"I spoke with Sonia, and she introduced me to the project here and showed me the possibilities. We all know Chelsea is one of the best clubs in the world, so it wasn't hard to convince me to come here."

After progressing through Pro Sesto before joining Inter's academy, she made her senior debut shortly after turning 16, becoming one of Italy's youngest professional players.

Barcelona quickly recognised her talent, signing the midfielder in January 2023. She made history as the first foreign female player to develop through La Masia before breaking into the first team and helping the Catalan club win a historic quadruple in the 2023-24 season.

Nicknamed "Little Messi" during her youth career because of her close control and dribbling ability, Dragoni has long been regarded as one of the brightest prospects in European football.
