Rio Ferdinand has been comparing Chelsea and Manchester United legends, giving his verdict on players from both clubs ahead of today's clash between the sides at Stamford Bridge.

In the video posted on his Rio Ferdinand Presents X account he made comparisons between some of the biggest names to represent the two rivals. That includes legendary wingers Eden Hazard and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Rio Ferdinand Rates Chelsea vs Manchester United Legends

Ferdinand started off by choosing Edwin van der Sar over Petr Cech in the battle of goalkeepers. The former Enland defender then opted for Paul Scholes over Frank Lampard, a debate that is often asked of former players.

When deciding between iconic forwards Eric Cantona and Gianfranco Zola, he explained that the Frenchman changed "the whole dynamic" of Manchester United. He also selected Roy Keane over N'Golo Kante and Ryan Giggs over Arjen Robben.

The most interesting comparison came when he was asked to choose between Hazard and Ronaldo. Ferdinand praised the Belgian, saying, "Eden Hazard was a player, man" but eventually sided with his former teammate.

Why Ferdinand’s Verdict Carries Weight

Ferdinand's experience at Manchester United gives his opinions added context. He spent 12 years at Old Trafford, making 455 appearances and winning 14 trophies.

During that time, he also played alongside Cristiano Ronaldo during the Portuguese forward's first spell at the club. He also faced Chelsea in the 2008 Champions League final in Moscow, one of the most memorable meetings between the two sides.

Ronaldo scored for United before Frank Lampard equalised, sending the match to penalties. After John Terry missed from the spot to win the game for the Blues, Van der Sar then saved Nicolas Anelka's decisive spot-kick as United won 6-5 in the shootout after a 1-1 draw.

That history gives Ferdinand a personal connection to both sides, particularly when discussing players such as Ronaldo and Hazard.
